How to Rotate an Image

  1. Open your photo. JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC all work.
  2. Turn it. Click "Rotate left" or "Rotate right" for 90° turns, or "180°" to flip it upside down.
  3. Straighten it (optional). Use the slider to tilt it by up to 45° in either direction.
  4. Download. Save as JPG, PNG or WebP.

Fix Sideways Photos

Phones store photos with a small "orientation" tag that tells apps which way is up. Some apps and websites ignore that tag. That's why a photo can look fine on your phone but appear sideways after you upload or email it.

Rotating it here saves the image in the correct direction for good. Every app will show it the right way up.

Straighten a Tilted Photo

A slightly crooked horizon can ruin a great landscape. Use the Straighten slider in small steps until the horizon looks level. Rotating by an odd angle creates empty corners. You can:

  • Fill them with white or black
  • Keep them transparent (PNG or WebP)
  • Or crop the image afterward to remove them

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I rotate a picture?

Open it in the tool above, click Rotate left or Rotate right until it's correct, and download.

How do I rotate an image by a custom angle?

Use the Straighten slider to rotate by any angle up to 45°, combined with the 90° buttons.

Does rotating a photo lose quality?

90° and 180° turns don't. Small angles need resampling, which can soften the image very slightly.

Why does my photo upload sideways?

The website ignores the photo's orientation tag. Rotate and re-save it here to fix it permanently.

Is this image rotator free?

Yes. It's free, private and adds no watermark.
